Analyst - Capacity Management role

The Role

  • The production of capacity reports and plans to ensure that services are matched to business capacity and performance expectations, ensuring service performance and capacity is provided to meet business growth predictions.
  • The pro-active analysis and continuous improvement of end-to-end service performance, identifying and remediating hotspots and bottlenecks in the components supporting service delivery.
  • Maintaining the CMIS, supporting the regular data collection process and integrating additional metric sources as required


Key Responsibilities:

  • Production and management of capacity reports and plans
  • Ensure IT system capacity is mapped to and meets business capacity needs
  • Engage with projects to ensure capacity and performance requirements are understood and systems are designed to meet those requirements
  • Pro-actively analyse IT systems to identify any future capacity or performance constraints
  • Analyse and trend the performance and throughput of online and batch IT services, identifying areas of improvement and work with service and technical SMEs to ensure appropriate remediation
  • Maintain the CMIS and integrate metric sources as required
  • Undertake performance analysis of system data including analysis of new releases on performance
  • Identify and initiate performance tuning to make the most efficient use of infrastructure and software
  • Proactively ensure service meets SLA
  • Liaise with Service Delivery Manager to ensure SLAs can be achieved and that the cost of meeting them is understood



We expect you:

  • Have experience of ITIL Capacity Management processes
  • A good understanding of statistical and analytical principles and process
  • A good understanding of IT performance analysis
  • Experience of working with the following technologies: WAN/LAN, Cisco, VMWare, SAN technologies (NetApp), Windows O/S, Ms SQL, Azure
  • Experience of scripting in languages like Perl, R and SQL


Would be extra good if you would:

  • An excellent understanding of the IT service provision and ITIL framework
  • Good administrative skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • The ability to communicate successfully with all levels of the business
  • Ability to translate technical requirements and specifications into easily understood business concepts and vice versa
  • Excellent listening skills with the ability to apply knowledge gained effectively
  • Experience of working in/with internal IT development business functions
  • Experience of working with Syncsort Athene
