The Role

Our engineering and controls teams based in our new offices in Kaunas and Vilnius go from strength to strength. Due to the business critical work they undertake for Dematic globally we are now looking to add to the existing team in 2019 with high performing Controls Design Engineers.

This role would suit a graduate in Electrical, Electronics or similar field, looking for the next steps in their automation controls design career; or an experienced commissioning engineer looking to take on new challenges.

Its important to understand this role supports projects globally so requires substantial travel.


This business critical role will be responsible for working as part of a team commissioning automated materials handling systems within constraints of pan-EU projects. And will develop a solid understanding of Dematic control systems and skills to produce electrical and software design amendments also.

Key responsibilities

  • Reading and correctly interpreting electrical layout and schematic drawings using appropriate CAD tools.
  • To verify quality of electrical installation on site and troubleshoot errors.
  • Liaise with electrical installation supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Following the test procedures, verify functionality of control software (PLC) on site to be able to run the conveyors, sorter or ASRS in standalone mode.
  • To integrate conveyor, sorter or ASRS control system with external subsystems (3rd party sub-systems, host WMS/WCS) ensuring full functionality following the relevant test procedures and according to project specifications.
  • To provide support to site-wide system commissioning activities until acceptance by the end-user.
  • To record all of the software commissioning test results into the proper modules attached to the commissioning test procedure.
  • To feedback relevant information to electrical and software engineering teams to produce amendments to control system designs.
  • To assist in Factory testing of the PLC and visualisation software.

What We Are Looking For

This is a hugely challenging and business critical role that works as part of a team supporting the installation of automated materials handling systems across Europe.

To be successful in this role you will be willing to travel extensively with a passion and desire to carve a career in automated controls with one of the global leaders in this field. As well as this you will have:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.
  • Background and experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Controls Engineering.
  • Good professional English, German or French skills.
  • Electrical schematic reading skills, understanding of electrical components (automation industry).
  • Knowledge of CAD tools, good MS Office skills, preferable PLC programming skills (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider etc.).
  • Good communication, organizational skills, proactive and cooperative team member.
  • Engineering mind-set.
  • Ability to travel.
