Who we are

Many of the world’s 500 million smallholder families face two interrelated challenges: they hold little, if any, rights to their land and being restricted to the informal sector, they often cannot access technical and financial services to improve their livelihoods.

Meridia provides affordable land rights documentation for smallholder farmers so to boost their economic empowerment. We currently operate in Ghana and Indonesia while our headquarters is located in the Netherlands. We have been in existence for little over two years and backed by our investors, we will continue to grow into new markets. We’re looking for a developer who is excited to grow along with our fast-paced start-up team and who is passionate about making a difference for millions of people around the globe. 

Who you are

We are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer that will help our team establish DevOps practice. You will work closely with the lead engineer to identify and establish DevOps practices in the company. You will help us build scalable, efficient cloud infrastructure. You’ll implement monitoring for automated system health checks. Lastly, you’ll build our CI pipeline, and train and guide the team in DevOps practices. You will work remotely from our office in Kaunas while reporting to our lead software engineer in Amsterdam. 

What you bring to the table

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or other equivalent technical discipline
  • Good verbal and written communication in English
  • 2+ years’ experience with using a broad range of AWS technologies (e.g. EC2, RDS, ELB, EBD, S3, IAM, CloudWatch) to develop and maintain an Amazon AWS based cloud solution, with an emphasis on best practice cloud security
  • Solid experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24×7 uptime Amazon AWS environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools
  • Strong scripting (e.g. Python) and automation skills
  • Experience in Agile methodologies, code reviews, unit testing and user stories, Git, Pull requests
  • Strong Linux system administration background
  • Experience with Docker is a plus
  • Experience with system monitoring tools
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure resource and application deployment issues
  • Ability to present and communicate the architecture in a visual form.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and own the CI
  • Manage CD tooling
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting
  • Build and maintain highly available production systems
  • Deploying, automating, maintaining and managing AWS cloud based production system, to ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of productions systems
  • Build, release and configuration management of production systems
  • Pre-production Acceptance Testing to help assure the quality of our products / services
  • System troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains
  • Suggesting architecture improvements, recommending process improvements
  • Evaluate new technology options and vendor products
  • Ensuring critical system security through the use of best in class cloud security solutions
