The Global IT Asset Management Team (“ITAM”) is part of Danske Bank’s IT Contract, Asset Performance Management organization in Danske Bank’s Group IT with teams in Denmark, Lithuania and India. The ITCP organisation is accountable for providing excellent vendor performance through executing disciplines such as contract management, service level management, IT asset management and collaborating closely with finance managers, risk managers and procurement managers. We have high ambitions and aim for the top quartile in all we do – and you must have, or aspire to be at, the same level of standard.

As part of the ITAM team, Software Asset Management (“SAM”) enables key corporate priorities by controlling costs, enhancing operational efficiency and mitigating security and financial risks. SAM objectives include tracking and managing software assets throughout their life cycle, ensuring consistent operational processes are defined from initial request through retirement, providing accurate reporting to support business decision making while managing asset related risks and establishing a foundation for services such as Information Security, Configuration Management, Change Management, Compliance Management, budgeting and forecasting.

Preferably, you will be located in one of the countries in which Danske Bank has business operations; travel may be required to work with teams in Vilnius, and Copenhagen.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, IT or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience interacting with multiple stakeholders throughout the company at all levels (including senior management) and across multiple countries
  • 3+ years of business experience related to software asset management, IT asset management, hardware asset Management or software procurement that has provided in depth knowledge of software licensing
  • CSAM, CAMP , ITAM or SAM certification a definite plus
  • Experience interpreting license and contractual terms/conditions and analysing purchase records
  • Knowledge of a variety of software licensing models and metrics
  • Knowledge and familiarity with discovery tools used across different platforms
  • Working knowledge of SAM tool(s)
  • Experience with corporate wide and/or internal departmental software policy/procedure development and document preferred


  • Interpret software license agreements and identify rules, obligations, and product metrics to ensure compliance with software license
  • Understand general software Product Use Rights and contractual entitlement requirements for software products and publishers (with a specialty in one or more publishers)
  • Collect, cleanse and normalize software discovery and inventory information to reflect an accurate view of entitlements held and software deployed)
  • Establish and maintain regular license management processes to review License Position Reports (evaluating deployments compared to entitlements) in order to identify any discrepancies for resolution
  • Working with stakeholders, understand program installation and configuration in order to translate into license compliance and associated financial impact
  • Identify under-deployments for potential cost savings (or harvesting/reuse of licenses) and over deployments that require the acquisition of additional entitlements/rights of use
  • Assist business and technical teams by monitoring and ensuring contract compliance. Work with team leadership, accounting staff, business and technical groups to analyse and resolve complex issues associated with software licensing rights
  • Analyse consumption history and trends to understand and support discussion with stakeholders regarding future demand
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders to verify future anticipated demand for software, translate this into budgeting/forecasting guidance for the affected software programs and evaluate consumption against pre-purchased inventories and to support contract expiration activities
  • Conduct regular analysis of actual consumption of pre-purchased inventories to deployment plans and report to leadership (and accounting, if necessary based on the type of agreement)
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the Procurement Department in support of software license negotiations with publishers
  • Support software compliance audits initiated by assigned publishers, collaborating with a cross-functional team, as appropriate and according to Danske Bank’s practices
  • Interact with stakeholders as a promoter for Software Asset Management compliance processes and procedures
  • Develop, document, implement and/or update internal procedures required to manage software license compliance on a daily basis
  • Collaborate Group Wide with cross-functional teams to continuously improve existing, or implement new processes, required to sustain the controls necessary to maintain software compliance.
