Monitoring Solution Expert

We are currently looking for technically as well as service oriented team member in our Monitoring Solution Expert group. If you are obsessed with advanced technical services monitoring, telemetry and intelligence, focused on high quality standards, automation and continual improvements (both, technological and organizational), this is your opportunity to take in Technical Operations team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, analyze and transform operational and/or functional needs of the organization into monitoring solutions in collaboration with other teams in Nasdaq
  • Analyze patterns of monitoring indicators, alerts and incidents; identify problems and induce their resolution with 2nd/3rd line teams
  • Responsible for the day to day administration of our monitoring platform, with focus on automation, self-service implementation and improvements that will help reduce alert volumes (noise levels) without compromising systems stability and availability
  • Custom solution development and maintenance to ensure high quality utility tools for effective and efficient Technical Operations
  • Administer and provide software support for monitoring tools, and perform the necessary customization and implementations with any of the tool suites in use
  • Establish and streamline processes for monitoring services delivery. Team up with Technical Operations and Application Support teams to improve ways of working
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and organizational guidelines for monitoring implementation (such as defining high level principles and baseline rules for monitoring across Nasdaq IT services)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Nasdaq’s IT and business teams on projects and support initiatives

 

Qualification requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred but not necessary
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience (e.g., as a Site Reliability Engineer, Monitoring Tech Lead)
  • Strong communication, presentation, analytical and problem solving skills required. Must have the ability to effectively understand and communicate technical issues and their solutions to multiple stakeholder groups and influence their outcome
  • Track record of well understanding of enterprise monitoring service organizational concepts (what are the main processes, what are key characteristics of well-organized monitoring services, etc.)
  • Proficiency in ITSM (ITIL v3 Foundation knowledge). Especially – operational processes (event, incident and problem management)
  • Experience with installing, configuring and maintaining enterprise level monitoring software (such as OpenView, AppDynamics, Data Dog, Splunk, VictorOps, AWS CloudWatch, Nagios, Zabbix etc., would be a bonus for candidate)
  • Solid working knowledge of both Windows and Linux Operating Systems, file and directory structures, commands, command-line interfaces and utilities.
  • Knowledge of IT Best Practices as they relate to the following areas: IT Infrastructure Monitoring, Data Networks, IT Security, Virtualization, Web Servers, Cloud and Storage technologies
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PERL, Shell, VBS, SQL, Web Services, Containers and APIs would be a great bonus for the candidate
  • Experience in Cloud Environments such as, Azure, AWS, Google or private cloud would be a bonus
  • Understanding of containerization such as, Docker, Kubernetes and Micro services would be a bonus.
  • Strong customer focus and follow-up skills
