The role

We are expanding our Senior Software Development team in Vilnius, Lithuania and are now seeking a talented Technical Product Owner to join the team. Reporting into our Head of Development, this position is focused on working on a number of integration projects that connect our partners (banks, payment processors, etc.) to the Railsbank platform as well as developing the core platform itself.

You will play a key part in driving efficiency and quality, helping to make our products as good as they can be. Our tech stack is Clojure/Datomic/AWS so experience in these technologies would be highly beneficial.

Responsibilities:

  1. Setting and communicating a product vision and strategy
  2. Communicate well throughout to ensure all stakeholders are clear on the vision, roadmap status, priorities and backlog
  3. Product Roadmaps: Plan and prioritize what (and when) the teams will deliver
  4. Ensure that the Product roadmap is aligned with business goals and is validated with stakeholders, at all stages across product planning, development and go live stages
  5. Working with the development team and ensuring the technical direction is aligned to the product vision
  6. Prioritise and order the backlog to deliver the roadmap, flagging any major issues
  7. Features: Define the “what” with user stories and requirements
  8. Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories
  9. Work with stakeholders to define scope and prioritise stories to maximise value
  10. Responsible for the delivery of user stories and ensuring the development team has a refined backlog that adheres to our quality standards
  11. Drive continuous efficiency improvements and clarity of purpose so our developers can concentrate on what they do best: delivering great products!

Railsbank is growing very rapidly, but remains a small company in which staff are required to contribute to many aspects of their departments’ roles in the wider business. This is a case in point, and may require an involvement in all aspects of finance, up to and including providing back up for the financial controller when absent. The rate of change is very fast, and the role may also require project work being undertaken, sometimes at short notice.

What we look for in your professional skills

You’re likely to be educated to degree level or equivalent, with excellent communication skills (across all media) and possess the ability to ‘get things done’ in a flexible dynamic organisation without having to rely on line-authority over other team members. We are looking for:

  1. Substantial experience of leading teams to deliver technology change 
  2. Substantial experience in Cloud hosted digital product development, innovation, risk management, stakeholder management, quality assurance and change impact.
  3. Experience in managing a backlog and working in Agile centric environments
  4. Track record of scoping and defining the right customer/stakeholder insights, to build the best possible products
  5. Hands on experience with AWS Cloud capabilities and services
  6. Ideally, knowledge/experience of finTech and APIs

Team-oriented people with excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to talk easily to people at all levels suit the Railsbank environment.

Good organisational skills and the important ability to thrive in a fast moving, dynamic environment that is both fun, but serious as well (we are responsible for other people’s money and we take this and our regulatory responsibilities very seriously).

Role location and hours

Unless agreed otherwise the role will be a full time role and you will be based in Lithuania in our Vilnius office.
